Here's some information on the most important major developments from Apple according to the history of the iPhone.

iPhone history

The first generation of iPhone

June 2007: The first generation iPhone arrived in the US market

Officially announced in January 2007, the original iPhone was first introduced by Steve Jobs as a combination of the iPod, a revolutionary smart mobile phone and a highly advanced communication tool specifically for the Internet. It featured a 3.5-inch, ultra-sensitive multi-touch screen, microphone, headphone controls, and such important features that the modern smartphone user takes it for granted today.

At the time, several newspapers such as the Wall Street Journal described the phone as a "beautiful and beautiful laptop." And it took a huge step forward, hailing the original iPhone as the invention of the year.

The first phone to beat the iPhone

July 2008: "The first smartphone to beat the iPhone"

Just a year after the original iPhone debuted on the market, its successor appeared in the market in the form of the iPhone 3G. The 2nd generation device included a lot of new hardware features such as 3G data and the famous Global Positioning System (GPS), but the most notable was introducing the world to the App Store. Apple's sourcing phase allows users to browse and download third-party apps, which as of 2018 comprised nearly two million apps.

A famous newspaper called Wall Street notes that the iPhone 3G corrected the most important flaws that existed originally: cost and difficulty in accessing the fastest cellular networks. Which stated the publication that "the iPhone has a great opportunity to become a true computing platform of wide diversity."

A new look from the iPhone changes everything

June 2010: "The look of the iPhone changes everything"

It introduced the first iPhone available on a popular network called Verizon Wireless and was making several premium features available to the public, all of which were on top of what would be revealed as the iPhone 4. Those features included the following:

  • Ultra HD Retina display.
  • And the first great front camera from Apple.
  • And other multitasking and FaceTime functions.

Engadget summed up the iPhone 4 as one of the best, if not the best, smartphones on the market. iPhone 4 has a long life.

Goodbye Steve Jobs Hello Siri

October 2011: "Farewell to Steve Jobs and Hello Siri"

Steve Jobs was the co-founder of Apple and died the day after the iPhone 4s was announced, though he was one of the people who oversaw the development of the iPhone 5, which would hit stores in September 2012. The "s", generically for Siri, was a personal smart assistant.

In addition to Siri, the iPhone has iOS 5, a smart operating system that introduced iMessage, iCloud, and a notification center among other notable features. The iPhone 4s is also equipped with Apple's first 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording, and these specifications were unique.

The Verge called the 4s "a great device with great specs", described Siri as "one of the most new apps Apple has ever produced" and also announced that "if this was a car, it would be Mercedes".

iPhone version "bigger than bigger"

September 2014: The release of the version rated greater than greater

The iPhone 5 is Apple's first smartphone to launch in September, and it's a high-potential trend that will continue today. But just two years after the release of the Fifth Edition, Apple unveiled two additional models for the series. Where the 6 Plus joined the 6 in a simultaneous release back in 2014, this version was marketed as "bigger than bigger" and "only two".

Aside from offering large screens, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus feature ultra-fast processors, upgraded cameras with proprietary specifications, and improved LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity. New options and new colors introduced by 7 and plus7. It is also water and dust resistant and has a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

iPhone says hello to the future

September 2017: "Let's look forward to a bright future"

Presenting the first Apple event in a famous theater in Cupertino, California called the Steve Jobs Theater, it led the world to a 4K Apple TV, Apple Watch Series 3, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. A historic event, it was iPhone X-themed to celebrate the release of the first iPhone before A decade has passed.

The iPhone X became Apple's first phone with OLED display technology, wireless charging, and a then-rare edge-to-edge display. The home button has been removed and for the first time, Face ID allows the consumer to unlock the phone with the appearance of Animojis simulating only their movements.

Portrait mode, Portrait lighting, TrueDepth, and digital image stabilization and optical image stabilization also contributed to Consumer Reports praising the iPhone X's camera as the top smartphone camera of the time.

The big screens of the iPhone

September 2018: "Welcome to the Big Screens"

It is well known that Apple built the iPhone X in previous years, which led to the emergence of three important new innovations: the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. The XS and XS Max offer superior retina in two high-quality sizes, including the largest screen ever found in an iPhone, the world's fastest Face ID, a smarter chip than most, and a powerful, dual-camera system that's never seen before.

As an alternative, iPhone XR is designed with an all-new Liquid Retina display, letting you see uniquely realistic colors from one edge of your screen to the other on the largest LCD screen ever for an iPhone.

And moving from FaceTime to Face ID, the iPhone has left a lasting mark on how our experience with smartphone technology is doing. These innovations, updates, and successes have resulted in the popular iPhone SE and C series.

iPhone-5G

October 2020: "Hi 5G"

The iPhone 12 series launch includes some cool new colors and 4 phones that all support 5G. This new series includes the Ceramic Shield, which features 4 times better drop performance than others as well as the A14 Bionic chip, and a 16-core Super Neural Engine, which is extremely efficient for a very long battery life.

It has super fast speed due to the 5G network and also provides very low latency so that you can get faster downloads in addition to that, better quality video, more responsive and interactive games in real time and faster playback.

All-new in iPhone 12 is the Ultra Wide Camera, which now takes different photo modes such as Night mode, and the Wide Camera captures 27% more light.

But for the great phones available right now from Apple, the future is much more exciting and advanced. There are plenty of technological advancements waiting to be announced soon. So make sure you know all of the most amazing Apple devices and accessories in Verizon, and all the devices will be on the 4G and 5G network that is the most reliable in the country.
