Famous actor Dean Stockwell dies
Dean Stockwell, an actor who spanned more than 70 years, passed away on Sunday. He was 85 years old.
Among his best credits were a leading role in the science fiction series "Quantum Leap", "Air Force One" and David Lynch's films "Dune" and "Blue Velvet".
When was Dean Stockwell born?
Stockwell Robert Dean was born in March of 1936, and began his career as a child actor with a contract with Metro-Goldwyn. His first appearance was in the movie "Valley of Decision" in 1945. Among his other early titles are "Anchors Aweigh" and "The Green Years".
He was also in a family of artists in Los Angeles, and began his career as a child actor and appeared, appearing alongside Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly in Anchors Aweigh.
Arguably Stockwell's biggest role was that of Admiral "Al" Calavicci in the NBC science fiction series "Quantum Leap" that ran for five seasons between 1989 and 1993. Famous physicist Sam Beckett has been involved in numerous space-time experiments.
He continued his recurring roles on the series Battlestar Galactica and The Tony Danza Show.
Oscar award
In 1988 he was nominated for an Oscar for Supporting Actor for a movie called Married to a Mob. He was also awarded more than once "twice" an important award, which is the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1959 and 1962. The first was on "Compulsion", in which Stockwell reprized a role he had earlier played on Broadway.
Stockwell's role earned him multiple Primetime Emmys and Golden Globes nominations, with Golden winning in the late 1990's for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture Made for Television. Dean Stockwell received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on February 29, 1992.
Actor Dean has been known for many things in his acting career. Where in the sixties, he joined the hippie group Topanga Canyon as well as joined the drug group and worked to participate in the co-love.

He returned to Hollywood with roles in Paris, Texas, Dune and To Live and Die in Los Angeles, before putting on a memorable cameo as singer Ben in the new mystery thriller Blue Velvet, performing as Roy Orbison's Dreams by Dennis Hopper & Company.
He has also appeared in The Rainmaker by Francis Ford Copella, as well as Robert Altman's The Player, and has gone on to have recurring television roles on the Battlestar Galactica series and The Tony Danza Show. Stockwell has been married twice - once to actress Millie Perkins - and has two children.
A statement from his publicity team reads: "Dean has spent his life navigating between fame and anonymity. Because of that, when he had a job, he was thankful. He is very talented and always has the breath of fresh air. He loved acting, laughing and smoking Cigars and golf."
